EDS Night 2007: Album I

EDS would like to thank all our friends and supporters who came to watch EDS Night 2007 this year. The evening concert was performed before a near capacity crowd on 19th May and fully showcased the talent and skill of our members in both dance and drama.

Here are the first photos from our rehearsals and afternoon show coutesy of Bing Huan.

EDS Drama secures SYF Gold

Our 2007 production of the "The Ice Cream Truck" secured Gold in the Singapore Youth Festival this year - the first Gold in over ten years! - thanks to the tireless efforts of both the cast and crew. We have just received the judges' comments, the most poingnant of which are reproduced below:

"It's a very interesting and original story and could have touched a very significant theme if the whole play could have been approached from a more dramatic perspective." - Judge A

"A well constructed drama with its lead ups, conflicts and eventual resolution. The students have very good diction especially the girls, and of course "Brenda" [Tze Lin] and "Joanne" [Ele]. Joanne's control of voice was highly commended - also to achieve different emotions without resorting to shouting. Brenda's stage presence (probably a dance background?) was also strong. Staging was also effective and helped maintain pace in the play. Well done!" - Judge B

"A very poised performance by the lead actress was noted here. Other members of th ensemble were equally convincing and strong in their respective roles. However, the play could have achieved more if the pacing between the scenes was tighter." - Judge C

EDS Nite 2006: A Photo Gallery (Part III)

I finally got a hold of these "lost" EDS Nite photos from Wynne so I decided to put them up (in rather random order). Apparently, they had been sitting inside her bag a while, lost and forgotten - like so many assignments, worksheets and notes before them (*sigh*).

EDS Nite 2005: A Retrospective Photo Gallery

Unfortunately, there aren't many good photos from EDS Nite 2005 ("Abracadabra!") and some got mangled beyond recognition by a faulty memory card it seems (just take a look at one of the dance photos above) - but we do have the whole concert on VCD! EDS Nite 2005 had a fairytale theme and was a real crowd pleaser. Our rousing encore item was "The Dead Man's Play", a long established part of EDS tradition (and regular feature during Orientation). We also awarded our first ever EDS Nite trophies based on audience voting. The Best Dance was "Remix", Best Actress (despite facing close compeition from Vanessa and Muthu - haha) was Ele Lim, and Best Actor by a landslide was the ever reliable Matthew Chia who flawlessly delivered his daunting mountain of lines as Mr. Perkins, the Wolf, the Dead Man, and most importantly Solares and enacted no fewer than six stage deaths!
